Parking was a breeze, and before we even got out of the car we were hit with the savory perfume of hamburgers and pancakes. Honestly, that smell alone could’ve gotten five stars. First impressions? Extremely promising. Once you walk inside, it’s like being gently teleported to the islands. J Boog was playing, the vibe was warm and friendly, and every inch of the place was decorated like someone said, “Yes, all the island things. Put them everywhere.” We ordered the lau lau, a Hawaiian Sun (obviously), and a Kaula bowl. The food came out lightning fast—like suspiciously fast—and overall it was really good. I say really good with a tiny asterisk, because I take my lau lau very seriously and order it everywhere. This one came in a soup bowl, had quite a bit of liquid, and a strong liquid s
I am a pancake fiend! Nothing like a decadent stack of flap jacks. It's one of my go to breakfasts for Father's Day and my birthday. So when I came across the pictures of these macadamia nut pancakes, I immediately bookmarked the page and patiently waited to turn 47. This stack did NOT disappoint! The cream on top is like that of a French cream pastry puff, only much thicker. Not very sweet, but just sweet enough. The Macadamia nut pieces added a wonderful fragrance and texture too. Its very thick and a good portion-I didn't need to ask for extra! The stacks themselves were VERY fluffy and had a chewy, mochi-like consistency and flavor. Very delicious indeed! My wife got the charshu beef and pork loco moco plate which was also VERY yummy. Tasty gravy and great portions for both (prices a
The brunch here was crowded. The store is decorated with Hawaiian vibes. The Macadamia Nut Pancakes are a must-try. Even though we ordered the small size, it was still a lot. The Spam Musubi has a nice mix of saltiness from the Spam and sweetness from the soy sauce. For the Breakfast Plate (2 entrées), we picked shrimp, beef, and eggs. The taste was a bit too sweet for my wife, and zero vegetables on the plate weren’t my favorite, only rice and meats. The staff are nice. Definitely worth trying!
My daughter got the loco moco and I got the macadamia nut pancakes. The location is small, but they made it work. My group of 5 ate outside. I preferred the loco moco vs the macadamia nut pancakes. Although the pancakes were plentiful, the "secret cream sauce" was bland, the pancakes were over cooked, edges burnt, and the macadamia nuts were stale. Things happen, and it's not going to deter me from giving them another shot. Could be someone's bad day. I'll go back and give them another try the next time I'm in California.
Small place packed when it's busy hard to find table to sit and eat comfortably. Better to go SERVICE IS FAST AND ON POINT. 👍 THAT CREAMY SWEET CUSTARD IN TOP OF FRENCH TOAST WAS PERFECT 😋. HASH BROWNS 👍 BEER👍 BBQ PORK 👍.
