Algood City Diner

Saw this restaurant on Google Maps and it looked like a great mom an pop diner. I was not wrong. The food was delicious. Service was very good. Lots to choose from...they have a hot bar or you can order from the menu. We chose breakfast which is served all day. I had the western sausage omelet and my husband had the southern meat lovers omelet. Both were excellent with plenty of meat and cheese. The sausage was very tasty and the jalapeños gave it just the right kick. I have no doubt we will go back!

Tldr; honest food, honest people. Great place for comfy brunch. Came on a Monday morning, waiter was friendly, lots of parking and seating spaces. Ordered the pancake tacos and lugnut. Tasted great, not too sweet not too salty! It's a great little diner that captures the small town vibe. Love it!

Husband ordered The Lugnut Breakfast which includes sausage & egg on a biscuit covered eith gravy with tater tots. I had a chicken biscuit. We tried the chocolate gravy and biscuit so we could say we did, and man it was awesome! Everything was great and they have the BEST service ever!

We finally made our way over here today. Let me start with the restaurant itself. It’s great. The atmosphere is something you’d expect from a diner off Route 66. Very nostalgic. The staff were great 10/10 all around. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was my meal. I got a double patty burger. It was ok except the burgers were cooked wayyyy too much. Very dry and crispy. Everyone else enjoyed their food though. I get the feeling I need to try their breakfast. I think that’s what’s they’re known for!

There is nothing excellent about this diner. All of the food ingredients are average to low grade. The waffles are made with pancake batter so they taste like pancakes shaped like waffles. The ham steak is smaller than average, the hash browns are tasteless, and the biscuits are dried out and flat. The gravy is fair and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is very nice. The service is fair. They’re charging a $1 surcharge on all egg dishes even after the egg prices have dropped. The prices are outrageous for the quality and portion sizes. Most local Mom and Pop’s are better than this place.
