Akira Ramen & Izakaya

I went here Xmas Eve and May I say it was outstanding. Pics included! The customer service was 10/10 and I dined here after going for matcha first next door at Kyo Matcha thought I was going just for dessert and snack but left with 🥘 dinner. It was phenomenal the ambience is amazing as well. It was the best experience for my first time. You can tell this is a great spot because it was packed even on Christmas Eve

Food looks great, but is average tasting. Not bad, but doesn't match the look they're going for. Another issue for me is no alcohol. I'd enjoy this style of food better with a cold Japanese beer or even some Sake. The miso soup is more or less flavorless. Another issue was that I mentioned my shellfish allergy and was told there "...might be some cross contamination...", but nothing definite. Could be a LOT better, but if you're jonesing for some Ramen, you could do a lot worse.

I've been to the Akira near Columbia Mall as well. The quality holds up. It's a pretty solid Japanese place. The karage was the best dish we got

After living in Japan for 6-years, I’m always skeptical about Japanese food in the US. However, the food here was spot on for the izakayas I used to visit in Japan. I will be back for the food. The atmosphere is too loud and nothing like an izakaya. But I guess that’s what is being served up in the US now.
