A & G Italian Fine Foods

This place has some really delicious things in it. If you like Italian cold cuts, deli sandwiches and that kind of stuff, you’ll definitely be satisfied with this place and what it has to offer. Everything that I’ve had tastes super fresh and of quality. The various breads they use for sandwiches and stuff, especially the focaccia, are all really tasty. If you’re in this area, you should stop in here.

A&G used to be a spot to get very good fresh mozzarella. Over the last few years we’ve seen the quality and freshness go downhill. We spend $33 on 2 balls for NYE today and are quite disappointed. They said it was fresh, but it’s dry and lacks that buttery, creamy flavor you expect from quality mutz. Go to Mazzella’s in Mountainside or Massimos in Kennilworth for can’t miss mozzarella. I’m sure they know this is not the same product they produced years ago. Sad.

My husband ordered a sandwich for himself and a WRAP for me. The staff had difficulty understanding that we wanted a crispy chicken caesar wrap. Husband stated numerous times crispy WRAP. Husband came back to the car not knowing they had given him a SALAD for my order and with grilled chicken. I went in myself to correct the order and they did not even apologize for the massive error and did not make said wrap in front of me so who knows what was done to it. Upon eating my wrap it had barely any chicken and was half filled. Just do yourselves a favor and go literally to any other Italian deli nearby. There’s plenty of other great places.

Had them cater my Christmas dinner. Never write reviews, but was so incredibly disappointed with this place I felt it warranted a bad one. The staff was so rude upon pick up, like retrieving my $600 order was getting in the way of their $10 hoagie orders. All 5 dishes I had ordered and the antipasto were so disgusting. Some of the chicken was raw, the "lasagna" and eggplant parm had no taste. The sausage did not taste like Italian sausage. And the cavatelli was like mush. The prosciutto in the antipasto was sliced so thick, no way its Italians preparing this stuff. None of my guests went for seconds or even finished their plates. Not what it used to be. Employees lack the knowledge of product and disinterested in providing a good service. The last 2 times I’ve been here they’ve actually had frustrated customers that were met with blank stares from employees. Food is actually pretty good but it’s a shame their staff can’t manage the store. I write this review in hopes management makes necessary changes to get it back to what it used to be.
