9th Street Pub

Was on a road trip with my 7 yr old daughter and I enjoy finding local restaurants rather then chains or fast food. We stopped by on the evening of 22 Feb 2026. Wasn't sure the place would be kid friendly but it ended up being a good fit for us. The bar tender was super friendly (made my daughter a Shirley Temple). We found a table that had a chess board and played a game. There was a band playing so it was loud but I enjoyed it. Another bar patron bought my daughter a game of pin ball. Another person gave my daughter a high five. The kids cheeseburger meal was $5 and was way better than anything a fast food place would serve. My burger was huge and tasted great. It did take some time getting to us, but I found it to be worth the wait. So I would say it was an unconventional choice to stop

It took 45 minutes to get our last two burgers;The chili was cold, but the bowl was super hot. None of the food was great. It was edible, but I would not recommend anything here. We ended up going back to the bar to get our drinks because the waitress only came back to check on us once in 45 minutes, and then only when she had the food. The cook, who I'm guessing was also the owner, came out and apologized profusely for the 45-minute wait, saying that the POS system had malfunctioned and didn't send the order through. He even removed the french fries. The best part about the place was the water.

Came in on Sunday ordered a burger and it was amazing. Whole group got food and drinks and apps. Bartender was extremely overwhelmed so service was slow, but she was very friendly. The apple pie shots were amazing. Place is very dated but pretty standard. Would recommend for food, not for drinks

I love this bar. It is my favorite place to go hang out in the Illinois Valley area. Great food too!

Just happened to be passing through this area and was looking for a place to have a burger and a beer. Did not expect super friendly people, great live music, and easily one of the top 3 burgers I’ve ever had in my life! Whether you’re in the area or not, make it a point to give this place a visit!
