888 Ristorante Italiano

There are so many Italian restaurants on the peninsula, it's hard to know where to go to. But this place was recommended by someone with exceptional taste, so I was very excited to try it. Wow. I was not disappointed! My pasta was delicious, but I really wish I would have gotten the lasagna. Lasagna is absolutely outstanding! When I come back here I will definitely get the lasagna. Love the warm friendly ambiance in this place, service was terrific. Definitely make a reservation, this place gets very crowded.

This was my first time at 888 Ristorante Italiano. It's a little farther down the street (near Arroyo) so we hadn't always gone that far down on Laurel to find a restaurant to try. We were a party of 4 for dinner, 2 of whom were celebrating a birthday, so we wanted to pick a nice place. The menu had many good choices. We shared a delicious appetizer, each person got a main dish, and we shared one dessert, along with wine. Everyone loved their meal, the flavors and seasonings were delicious. The service was excellent, and they were happy to make menu changes per each person's special request, such as pasta in place of potatoes, or no potatoes and all veggies with the main dish. I had a great time here. While the table on the sidewalk was a little weird having people walking by and looking at me eating, it was amusing as well and worth it given the weather was great. Had to look around at first to find any staff, but once I did he was amazing. Food was absolutely amazing! The bolognese was delicious, but the chocolate Carmel sea salt gelato was among the best desserts I have ever had. Will definitely eat here again.

My wife and I went to 888 recently for our wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time with excellent service and scrumptious Italian dishes. Our serve Enrique recommended wine by the glass to complement our entres. We had the Fresh Octopus for an appetizer and shared a tasty ceaser salad. They provided bread with traditional olive oil and balsamic dip. My wife had the fettuccine di tarufo with chicken. She loved it and even had enough to take home. I had the seafood special with the fresh fish of the say and prawns. For dessert my wife had the affogato and I had the cheesecake. The owner and proprietor Vince stopped by our table and wished us a happy anniversary. Overall we had a special and rememborle time at 888 in San Carlos and will be back again soon.

We really enjoyed our dinner and the interaction with the owner who shared his mom’s recipes and made good wine recommendations.
