7 Hills South

We loved the restaurant when it was under the past owners and we hoped to still love it. We did! It still had all the old charm of the church and it was kept the same with a few slight changes. We got the nachos for our appetizer with brisket. It was delicious and the brisket didnt disapoint. It had a great taste and the cheese was creamy and flavorful. We ordered a pasta meal and a pizza that we split. Honestly. I'm not sure which was better, the pasta or tge pizza. Both were equally delicious. The pizza had that great wood cooked taste to it and the pasta was out of this world! I'm so glad we still love the restaurant! It makes the 2+ hour drive from where we live to eat there. I second Joanne Griffin’s review with the let down of seeing the new owners gut the great revivalist. No grand piano, no chandelier, no pool table. But here is the same beer menu with a classless rebrand on top of having a menu with less food options and childish chatGBT generated names. Took a diamond in the rough in a place like Clinton Iowa and turned into a half rate “brewery” that opted for a beer vending machine and sell out merch stand than having the amenities that made the church a truly magical place to be in. I hope the owner knows the business well enough to get new customers who didn’t even know what the Great Revivalist was because this a prime example of you vs the guy she tells you not to worry about.

There was a snowstorm and they remained open for our party. Paris our waitress was great! I ordered a gluten free pizza and it looked and tasted so good I was concerned it wasn't gluten free. The ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. I'm so appreciative this beautiful church has been restored and elevated to new beauty! This gem is worth a drive for a burger or pizza and a feast for the eyes as well!

This was my first visit to 7 Hills South since the change in ownership. There were were a few small changes I noticed in the decor and layout, but overall, it looked much like it did when it was called GRB. It was pretty slow for a Saturday night, maybe 4 other tables, so we were seated right away. The menu had a lot of the same items as GRB, some things have been removed, some added. Prices from what I remember were the about the same. Service, overall was great. No complaints, and I'll give that one a 5 star rating. Food was pretty hit and miss. I was able to try a sample of most of what we ordered, and everyone agreed with these ratings. I'll go from "Good" to "Bad": Apps were really good. One of the best burgers I've had and the fries were excellent. Inside an old Church,.. I could have spent hours just looking at all the staind glass. Must see!! And enjoy the food. I need to get the pizza next time ( woodfire), looked good!.
