188 Bakery Cuchifritos

Stopped for breakfast and enjoyed Mangu, salami, fried cheese and eggs. Also had an Ajonjolí drink. Had never tried Mangu before. I loved it! Service was very friendly and quite fast despite a moderate number of customers present. Bought some morcilla to go, thoughts on that pending. Overall, a great experience. Update: The Morcilla was delicious. Moist, fresh, just a hint of spice. Made a delicious snack later in the day. Can't wait for the opp to go back and try their other fare. So far, this place has earned every star I gave it.

I finally tried the morcilla. It was okay. It definitely tastes different to the Antiguan rice/blood pudding that I am accustomed to. The skin was crispy and now that I've finished eating both pieces I can still taste the spices.

Everyone is deceived by this food spot. Majority of food there pretends to be Puerto Rican but it leans more Dominican. The only thing they have P-Rican is the Puertorican flag and the Malta India. I bought a family combo and the amount of sweet plantains they gave me in my order compared to what they used to give was abysmal. Instead of beans they give you more bean sauce that beans. Also the so called natural juices they have behind the counter on the machines are no other than sugar loaded Zuko brand powder juice. Ain't nothing natural about it. It used to be a Puerto Rican food cuchifrito years way back ago now it isn't. By the way im Puerto Rican born and raised in the island not here. That's why I dont get fooled. Majority of these cuchifritos today are Dominican.

Love the food you get a large amount of food for an unbeatable price! I come from the lower east side to pick up a combo meal & where I’m from forget about it! We paying triple the amount all thanks to the congestion pricing surcharge we have to pay!

Delicious, perfectly seasoned... haven't had cuchifritos this good for years!!! HOWEVER, I would have given the 5 STARS if the food was hotter. They need to work on their heating lamp situation cause otherwise the frituras are soggy... under normal circumstances I would not have eaten them but the taste was awesome enough to let it slide THIS TIME!
